USS Voyager

By Orlando Guiang

This Intrepid-class starship had many innovations that made it unique compared with previous starship designs. The centerpiece of Star Trek Voyager, the ship was seen week-to-week facing different foes and challenges as the crew made it's way back to Federation space. This model was built from the Monogram kit a number of years ago.

I first did a lot of research to help me decide on the bluish hull color, and I tried to reproduce it as best as I could. The book called “ Star Trek Mechanics” was of great help as it had a number of detailed pictures of the original miniature. If you're planning on building one of these, I'd highly recommend that book and it has pictures of many other Trek miniatures. Although some added detail was eventually available in a special edition release of this kit, I added my own as you can see along the upper decks. In addition, I constructed hatches along the hull rim and used decals that I obtained from the internet that were more accurate than the ones originally provided with the kit. Unfortunately, time has turned them a bit yellow.
