The Earth Defense Force (EDF) Battleship is a standard vessel used by the human fleet in "Star Blazers". Its main anti-shipping armament is a fixed spinal-mount Wave Motion Cannon, supported by several heavy beam cannon in triple turrets. The design was produced as a stop-gap measure, and as such has many shortcomings; the hull is notably undersized for the weapons battery of the ship and there is a great deal of crowding. Much like naval vessels during Earth World War II, this ship has been refitted with many additional anti-fighter weapon emplacements to counter the growing threat these small craft pose to large vessels. This particular ship is the flagship of the Northern Division, charged with patrolling "above" the plane of the ecliptic. The Northern Division favored a green paint scheme over the standard EDF Grey.
