By Jason Smith Scale: 1/8200The Sithspawn is the personal flagship of Admiral Flagg, a dark Jedi. Several shipyards competed for a possible Imperial contract for a new Star Destroyer. By using the dark side to manipulate the designers, Flagg took this opportunity to have a ship made to his own custom needs and specifications. The Sithspawn was one of only two Star Destroyers completed before the Empire cancelled the program. The other Star Destroyer was Lord Jerec’s flagship, the Vengeance. The Sithspawn was completed after the destruction of the first Death Star. The Sithspawn's primary mission was deep space exploration and conquest throughout the unexplored regions of the galaxy. Since that time Flagg has used the awesome might and of the to rule and ravage any opposition it faces. The Sithspawn measures 10,000 meters in length. It is equipped with various turbolasers, proton torpedo launchers, ion cannons, multiple hanger bays, and even a prototype World Devastator furnace capable of creating ships as large as corvettes and gunships. The Model:The design of the Sithspawn was derived from the Imperial, Eclipse, and Vengeance Star Destroyers and was done over the course of several years. It was constructed over the course of two months, almost entirely out of sheet styrene. The length of the model made it very difficult to photograph. The four foot (1.22m) long model is on a one-point display utilizing a 7/32 steel rod. It has a wingspan of twelve inches. The model weighs over 4 pounds. |

There are parts from a Millennium Falcon kit, as well as a '67 Charger, container caps, and the citizens of my parts box. The antennae were made of straight pins and brass tubing and the deflector shield generators are 6mm plastic BBs. The model was built in several parts: the bridge, the engines, the primary decking, the under side, the wings, and the primary armored hull plating. To these were added extensive detail including gear-well-like constructions that run through the center and undersides of the hull plating. Layer upon layer of .020 styrene was used to give the under side the multilevel look. At this point it was painted with the different basecoats. Then the underhull, engines, wings, and primary decking were all glued together, leaving only the top hull plating to be attached. The details were added before the final assembly of the hull portions. The scribe-lines alone, which cover 90% of the ship, took five days of work. The primary decks were painted with Tamiya Dark Sea Grey and the armor plating is Model Masters Flat Gull Gray acrylics. Various other colors were used in the detailing of the ship.
